Though it shares such close proximity to it’s sister course, the Dunes, it is a remarkably different experience. Uniquely featuring 20-holes, you’ll wind along the coastline, through lowland swales and over towering sea-side bluffs. ABOUT THE COURSE
Located only 1 hour north of Launceston, Tasmania, Barnbougle’s magnificent ‘Dunes’ and ‘Lost Farm’ courses sit majestically on the Northern Tasman Sea.
Many coming to Barnbougle expect their two world-class courses to play quite similarly; this couldn’t be further from the truth. Topographically you’ll immediately notice that Lost Farm sets up visually less-rugged and treacherous off the tee. It’s fairways are much wider and inviting than the narrower, more target-oriented ones at the Dunes. However, flanking these wide, immaculate fairways are towering hills and ridges that are vastly higher then those found at the Dunes, dwarfing you as you approach it’s undulating greens.
The site that Lost Farm sits on is considerably larger and stretches further inland. These factors gave Coore the opportunity to do something Doak would have loved to on his course; arrange many of the golf holes to run to all points of the compass, rather than predominantly east and west. When the wind blows, this forgiving fact allows the golfer not be constantly punished by playing directly into the wind on many holes.
